I can't be the only one struggling to maintain a long attention span consistently. As well as getting on top of my to read list these are some of my favourite books which I have read so many times I no longer need to think.
I like to think I read a lot, however, I mainly read books set in and from English speaking countries so I have set myself the challenge of reading a book from every country, and there is no time like the present!
Currently reading - The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir
I wrote this short story about two weeks into lockdown and have been slightly nervous to make it public. It's inspired by Margaret Atwood's 'The Handmaid's Tale' and Little Red Ridinghood . Rereading it reminded me of how I felt towards the start of the pandemic, and made me reflect on how those feelings have and haven't changed. I hope you like it.
PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome) affects 75% of menstruating people, and its symptoms vary from bloating to depression. It is often worse if the person is experiencing stress or anxiety in their lives anyway and so during a pandemic isn’t ideal. I’ve been experiencing much more severe PMS during this than usual and wanted to write something to normalise the conversation about it as it is something that often has stigma attached, and to share how I have been coping or not coping in case it helps anyone else.
